Course Description


This online course is an extensive and popular program analyzing the major changes to the National Electrical Code (NECĀ®) for the 2023 cycle. Members of the eighteen NECĀ® code-making panels contributed to the development of the authoritative text used in this online course.

The course includes analysis of many of the most significant electrical code changes and includes expert commentary video clips.

The TDLR laws and rules portion of this course includes licensing requirements, examinations and renewals. Continuing education requirements, reciprocity and class violation levels are also covered. TDLR safety training encompasses electrical hazards, qualified person, preventing electrical accidents and emergency procedures. Arc flash analysis and flash protection boundary (FPB) are reviewed as well.



Course Objectives


Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Discuss code changes related to special occupancies
  • Express code changes related to special equipment
  • Summarize special conditions code changes
  • Describe licensing requirements, examinations and renewals, continuing education requirements and class violation levels.
  • State the purpose and make up of the advisory board
  • Identify electrical hazards, thereby preventing electrical accidents
  • Explain emergency procedures as they relate to accidents
  • Discuss arc flash and flash protection boundaries

In addition to being a Master Electrician, Jody is an ICC Certified Building Official and holds certifications as Building Plans Examiner, Building Inspector, Chief Building Code Analyst and One- and Two-Family Dwelling Inspector.
