Michigan Continuing Education Requirements

Michigan General Rule R 339.16042.a Continuing Education Requirements

  1. A licensee who holds a license for more than 12 months, but less than 24 months from the date of initial licensure shall obtain 15 hours of continuing education for the first renewal period.
  2. A licensee who holds a license for 24 months or more from the date of initial licensure shall obtain 30 hours of continuing education for the renewal period.
  3. Continuing education hours may be acquired in another jurisdiction.
  4. Continuing education hours shall be relevant to the occupation

  1. Every professional engineer who is renewing his/her license should retain records documenting the completion of continuing education.
  2. Those documents must be retained for 4 years from the date of applying for license renewal.
  3. Do not send the continuing education documents to the Bureau when renewing your license.
