Special PCCLB Information Regarding HB 735
In May 2023, the State of Florida passed legislation amending the impacts of HB 735. This bill was due to eliminate local construction licensing in certain specialty trades effective July 1, 2023.
As it stands now, HB 1383 is awaiting the Governor’s signature before becoming law. This extends the effective date of HB 735 from July 1, 2023 to July 1, 2024. Once signed into law, ALL specialty licenses continue until July 1, 2024.
Therefore, all specialty contractors MUST complete 14 continuing education units and renew their license by September 30, 2023. License fees have been reduced. License renewals will expire June 30, 2024 unless extended by law.
