Michigan Electrical Administrative Board Continuing Education Requirements

The current code in effect for Michigan is the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC) which has an effective date of March 12, 2024.

Following are some continuing education (code update) highlights:

  • Michigan LARA continuing education (code update) requirements are on a completely different schedule than license renewals (electrical licenses expire on December 31st of each year).
  • The continuing education (code update) course related to the newly adopted code must be completed within one year of the code adoption date. Therefore, the 2023 NEC code update adopted on March 12, 2024 must be completed by March 11, 2025.
  • Master (license begins with 62), Journey (license begins with 63) and Fire Alarm Specialty Technician (license begins with 52) licensees require the 15 hour Code Update course. Sign Specialist (license begins with 54) require 8 Hr Code Course (not yet active on Pace).

Important Note: We have a single approval number (20-1195466) for the entire 15-hour code update, therefore to receive credit you must complete all five PacePDH.com components(courses) that make up our 15-hour code update.
