Course Description
Some of the topics for consideration include: the history of RCC; benefits; performance; uses of RCC; construction process; RCC mix design; real world examples; limitations; and recommendations. Course research data will be used to provide material for generating any conclusions and recommendations for Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC). Participants will take a multiple-choice quiz upon course completion to receive credit.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- discuss the history of RCC
- differentiate between RCC and conventional concrete
- explain RCC advantages and construction procedures
- recognize RCC limitations and past problems structural design
- demonstrate current RCC mix design and usage
- describe real world examples and industrial usage recommendations
Instructor Bio
Greg Taylor has worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation as the Civil Engineering Manager since 1978. He is responsible for all types of roadway projects including State routes, bridges and estimates. He performs all phases of civil engineering design work including erosion control, hydrology, andgrading, while adhering to State regulations. He has also been a logistics and support officer for the Tennessee Air National Guard from 1985 to 2006. Greg hold a M.S. and B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee as well as an M.S. in Engineering Management also from the University of Tennessee.
