Course Description
This is the second part of a three-part series dedicated to the Design-Build and the dynamic relationship between the contractor and the building designer. The entire course package provides the construction professional with a thorough understanding of the Design-Build process and how it applies to all three parties: the owner, the building designer, and the building contractor. In this course, attention is given to the unique issues facing building designers and building contractors when forming a design- build team. A checklist to assess team member compatibility is discussed in detail.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Evaluate the compatibility of Design-Build team members
- Describe Design-Build partnerships and compare and contrast joint ventures
- Specify the Design Build selection process, identify appropriate projects and weigh qualifications of team members in the evaluation process
- Discuss which types of projects are suitable for Design-Build and explain the seven step detailed process to develop an RFP
Instructor Bio
Bonnie Prinse
Ms. Prinse holds a BS Degree in Environmental Studies from Eckerd College and has pursued master degree studies in Aquatic Zoology at the University of South Florida. She has written scientific portions of impact statements for wetland/upland land delineation, endangered species studies, and water quality testing while employed with a civil engineering and architectural firm in Tampa, FL. Her experience in environmental studies and new construction lend itself to documentary film making, particularly environmental stories that have taken her to the Amazon in Peru and to Costa Rica. Most recently her involvement with earthen construction projects led to a video production showcasing the benefits of building “green.”
