North Carolina Continuing Education Requirements

North Carolina Administrative Code 21NCAC 56.1703 Continuing Professional Compentency Requirements

  1. Every licensee shall obtain Fifteen (15) Professional Development Hour (PDH) units during the annual renewal period by December 31st.
  2. If a licensee exceeds the annual requirement in any renewal period, a maximum of 15 PDH units may be carried forward into the subsequent renewal period.

North Carolina Administrative Code 21NCAC 56.1703 Continuing Professional Compentency Record Maintenance and Verification

  1. The licensee shall maintain the following records to be used to support credits claimed:

    - a log showing the type of activity claimed, title or specific subject, sponsoring organization, location, duration, date, instructor's or speaker's name, and PDH credits earned, and other information on a form as prescribed by the Board; and

    - attendance verification records in the form of completion certificates, or other documents supporting evidence of attendance.
  2. These records must be maintained for a period of three years and copies may be requested by the board for audit verification purposes.
