Course Description


This course is part of a series of courses and certification on the Conflict-Free Home Remodeling Process. The courses were written by Stephen Gidus and the remodeler certification is offered through REMODology, LLC. “REMODology Part VI – Avoid the He Said/She Said Syndrome” covers the importance of knowing the questions to ask and seeing expectations in writing before construction begins. The course also explains how communicating and documenting your wants, needs, desires or wishes can be accomplished in two ways; through a drawing or in writing (specifications).

Course Objectives


Upon completion of the course, Florida contractors will:

 

  • understand what General Specifications are
  • examine what Construction Specifications are
  • recognize why Specifications are useful
  • explore how documenting expectations leads to a more harmonious and peaceful relationship between a homeowner and remodeler
  • develop a checklist of topics for discussion during the Pre Construction planning phase
  • determine precautions to help avoid finger pointing


Instructor Bio


Bonnie PrinseBonnie Prinse

Ms. Prinse holds a BS Degree in Environmental Studies from Eckerd College and has pursued master degree studies in Aquatic Zoology at the University of South Florida. She has written scientific portions of impact statements for wetland/upland land delineation, endangered species studies, and water quality testing while employed with a civil engineering and architectural firm in Tampa, FL. Her experience in environmental studies and new construction lend itself to documentary film making, particularly environmental stories that have taken her to the Amazon in Peru and to Costa Rica. Most recently her involvement with earthen construction projects led to a video production showcasing the benefits of building “green.”
