Course Description
The State of Florida requires continuing education as part of the process of renewing a license to practice engineering.
Each licensee shall complete professional development hours during each license renewal biennium as a condition of license renewal. The laws and rules requirements relate to Chapter 471, F.S., and the rules of the Board, Chapter 61G15-22, F.A.C.

Changes to Title XXXII, Chapter 455 during the previous biennium
A. 455.1165 Federal Grants Trust Fund
Subsection (3), regarding termination of the fund, was removed.
B. 455.213 General Licensing Provisions
Subsection (12), covering the waiving of fees for verterans, was ammended to extend to 60 months
Changes to Title XXXII, Chapter 471 during the previous biennium
A. 471.007 Board of Professional Engineers
Divided into three Subsections and implemented staggered terms for board members
B. 471.013 Examinations; prerequisites
Subsection (1)(e) ammended to include the option to take a “board-approved … review course” in the event of exam failure three times
C. 471.015 Licensure
Subsection (5)(a) regarding licensure by endorsement eliminated language about doctoral degree in engineering as deemed substantially equivalent to the fundamentals exam.
D. 471.017 Renewal License
PacePDH is an approved continuing education provider for engineers in the State of Florida. This course has been approved by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers to satisfy the requirement for four hours of Florida Laws and Rules.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, the student will understand all of the changes made to Florida Statutes 455 and 471 with regard to the practice of Professional Engineering as well as changes to Florida Administrative Code Rule 61G15.
In addition, the student will review several case studies that occurred during the current bienium.
