Pool and Spa Chemical Safety (WPS/GEN)

This course provides 1 hour of safety training for those dealing with chemicals to treat pools, hot tubs, and spas.  During the training the participant will learn about what types of chemicals are used, their properties and hazards, and the proper methods of storage and handling of them.  The knowledge provided will be useful for pool contractors and pool owners, as well as life guards or other individuals whose job includes pool maintenance.  

This course is designed for the individual to:

• Increase awareness of the dangers of pool chemicals
• Gain knowledge about the specific chemicals and their hazards
• Learn the tools necessary for proper handling and transportation of pool chemicals
• Learn proper storage techniques
• Become prepared to respond to minor chemical spills
• Know which first aid treatment should be pursued from a chemical injury
