Course Description

This is the first part of a three-part series dedicated to Design-Build and the dynamic relationship between the contractor and the building designer. The entire course package provides the construction professional with a thorough understanding of the Design-Build process and how it applies to all three parties: the owner, the building designer, and the contractor. This series introduction will focus on describing Design-Build and will present a short history of Design-Build, and explain how Design-Build contrasts with Design-Bid-Build and Construction Management. Fast Tracking and Partnering will also be discussed.

  • Identify the major steps necessary to perform a design build project
  • Describe the triumvirate of the Design-Bid-Build parties and explain the performance and legal responsibilities of each party
  • Compare and contrast Design-Bid-Build construction management and Design-Build in terms of cost and time
