Course Description

In this course we explore an engineering professional's responsibilities as they relate to their clients, their peers, their employer, their employees, and their profession. We begin the course by examining the role of ethics in the every day practice of their profession. We explain why ethical behavior is not only a professional and legal imperative, but is also just plain good business. We then take a look at how the concept of professional ethics developed from the most basic notions of right and wrong to the current professional standards.

Specific case studies are used to illustrate key prinicples in real world situations. The principles of "reciprocity" in ethics and the learning objectives outlined below are valid for all business professionals in general.
