TDLR Electrician CE Requirements

(extracted from TDLR Continuing Education Information for Electricians)

Electrician licensees must complete four (4) hours of continuing education in courses approved by the department. These courses must address the following:

  • National Electrical Code, as adopted under Title 8, Occupations Code §1305.101, or the current version of the National Electrical Code, as approved by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
  • State law and rules that regulate the conduct of licensees
  • Safety as defined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E.

In lieu of taking four hours of continuing education as required in §73.25(b), an electrical apprentice or electrical sign apprentice may enroll in a department-registered apprenticeship training program.Continuing education courses must be completed within the term of the license being renewed. For example, if a license expires on June 4, 2024, the continuing education courses taken to renew that license must have been taken between June 5, 2023 and June 4, 2024.
