Analysis of Changes 2017 NEC - Part I (T)

This interactive distance-learning course is an extensive and popular program analyzing the major changes to the National Electric Code (NFPA 70™) for the 2017 cycle. Members of the nineteen NEC code-making panels contributed to the development of the authoritative text used in this online course.

The IAEI staff and PacePDH.com have worked together to develop a quality online program that will provide information about code changes covering the safe installation and use of electrical products in the 2017 National Electrical Code.

IAEI's Analysis of Changes 2017 NEC - Part I course covers 59 of the most significant code –wide and Chapter 1 through Chapter 4 changes. This includes interpretations by the group that enforces the Code. Specifically the course covers code-wide changes, Article 100 definitions, Article 110 requirements for electrical installations, wiring design and protection, wiring methods and materials, and equipment for general use.

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to:

• Describe code-wide changes and Article 100 definition changes as well as requirements for electrical installations.
• Explain changes to the proper use and identification of grounded conductors and changes in branch-circuits, feeder and service calculations.
• Identify changes to outside branch circuits and feeders code changes related to services and overcurrent protection.
• Recognize new grounding and bonding code changes, and changes to wiring methods and conductors for general wiring.
• State changes regarding proper uses for different conduit types, busways and cable trays, as well as the use and identification of switches, receptacles, switchboards and panelboards.
• Understand changes regarding appliances, motors and controllers, air-conditioning, refrigeration equipment, generators and storage batteries.

Previous to his position as Director of Digital Educaition he was the Technical Advisor, Education, Codes and Standards Specialist and the Seminar Coordinator. In addition to being a Master Electrician, Jody is an ICC Certified Building Official and holds certifications as Building Plans Examiner, Building Inspector, Chief Building Code Analyst and One- and Two-Family Dwelling Inspector.
