Course Description


This one-hour course is intended to be an overview of a drug-free workplace program, it is not official language of the Florida Statutes. The intent is to “promote drug-free workplaces in Florida, in order that employers (would) be afforded the opportunity to maximize their levels of productivity, enhance their competitive positions in the marketplace, and reach their desired levels of success without experiencing the costs, delays, and tragedies associated with work-related accidents resulting from drug abuse by employees.”



Course Objectives


Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Discuss the steps in becoming a carrier certified workers' compensation drug-free workplace
  • Explain how to implement the drug-free program
  • Express employer’s and employee’s rights and responsibilities
  • Define common terms pertaining to a drug-free workplace
  • Identify several forms used when implementing the program


Instructor Bio


Bonnie PrinseBonnie Prinse

Ms. Prinse holds a BS Degree in Environmental Studies from Eckerd College and has pursued master degree studies in Aquatic Zoology at the University of South Florida. She has written scientific portions of impact statements for wetland/upland land delineation, endangered species studies, and water quality testing while employed with a civil engineering and architectural firm in Tampa, FL. Her experience in environmental studies and new construction lend itself to documentary film making, particularly environmental stories that have taken her to the Amazon in Peru and to Costa Rica. Most recently her involvement with earthen construction projects led to a video production showcasing the benefits of building “green.”
