Course Description


This course is part of a series of courses on the Conflict-Free Home Remodeling Process written by Stephen Gidus. “REMODology Part 4 – Design Review” focuses on Step 2 of the Pre-Construction Phase, the Design Review. The hiring of designers for the project, the various plans that compose in the Design Review and related stakeholders are covered. Finally, budget and financing along with homeowner affirmation is explored.



Course Objectives


Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the residential designer to the project
  • Identify the importance of the as-built plan
  • Explain the importance of investigative surgery
  • Examine the importance of the interior designer to the project
  • Compare the Feasibility Study budget to the Design Review budget


Instructor Bio


Bonnie PrinseBonnie Prinse

Ms. Prinse holds a BS Degree in Environmental Studies from Eckerd College and has pursued master degree studies in Aquatic Zoology at the University of South Florida. She has written scientific portions of impact statements for wetland/upland land delineation, endangered species studies, and water quality testing while employed with a civil engineering and architectural firm in Tampa, FL. Her experience in environmental studies and new construction lend itself to documentary film making, particularly environmental stories that have taken her to the Amazon in Peru and to Costa Rica. Most recently her involvement with earthen construction projects led to a video production showcasing the benefits of building “green.”
