Course Description


This online course analyzes 30 of the major changes to the National Electric Code (NFPA 70™) for the 2020 cycle. Members of the NEC® code-making panels contributed to the development of the authoritative text used in this online course.

The instructor for this course is David Arnold, with expert code change support being provided by Keith Lofland, Director of Education at the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI).



Course Objectives


Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Describe code-wide changes, article 110 requirements for electrical installations and branch circuit wiring and protection.
  • Explain changes to branch circuit, feeder and service calculations as well as overvoltage protection, grounding and bonding.
  • Describe changes to wiring methods and equipment for general use.
  • Understand changes regarding special occupancies, special equipment, special conditions and communication systems

Previous to his position as Director of Digital Educaition he was the Technical Advisor, Education, Codes and Standards Specialist and the Seminar Coordinator. In addition to being a Master Electrician, Jody is an ICC Certified Building Official and holds certifications as Building Plans Examiner, Building Inspector, Chief Building Code Analyst and One- and Two-Family Dwelling Inspector.
