This three hour course does meet the hurricane mitigation training requirements of 627.711, Florida Statutes required to complete the Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form; OIR-B1-1802 (Rev.  01/12), incorporated by reference in Rule 69O-170.0155, Florida  Administrative Code (eff. 2/1/12).

However, you must take the CILB (Construction Industry Licensing Board) version to meet this requirement or qualification in order to satisfy the Department of Financial Services, Please click this link:

Wind Mitigation Methodology - Retrofits for Existing Homes - 3 hr (WMM/GEN) (HSW)

This Home Inspector version of the course will however, count toward the two hours of required wind/hurricane mitigation credit and one hour of general credit for your Florida home inspector license renewal.

If you hold dual home inspector and contractor licenses this course will cover the hurricane mitigation requirement for the home inspector license AND the wind mitigation requirement for the contractor license.

Course Objectives


At the conclusion of this course the participants will be able to:
 

  • Recognize the importance of Hurricane Wind Mitigation
  • Learn how to successfully complete the Uniform Mitigation Verification inspection form
  • Identify correct installation of supplementary roof fasteners, roof to wall connections and gable end bracings, metal roofs and porches & attached structures etc.
  • Interpret how successful or unsuccessful a mitigation was conducted
  • Determine what mitigation may still be necessary
  • Gain access to other important resources and reference materials
