Course Description

Florida CILB Course Approval Number: 0010094
Oregon CCB Series B Course Approval Number: SRB0023

This two hour interactive distance-learning course is designed to introduce the participant to EPA’s  Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP). Construction site operators will want to apply these guidelines when working on sites required to comply with stormwater discharge requirements. Stormwater runoff from construction sites can cause significant harm to rivers, lakes and coastal waters. A SWPPP is often required (by your construction general permit) and will help you prevent stormwater pollution. A SWPPP is more than just a sediment and erosion control plan. It describes all the construction site operator’s activities to prevent stormwater contamination, control sedimentation and erosion, and comply with the requirements of the Clean Water Act.

In the next two hours we’ll review how to prepare a SWPPP in order to receive NPDES permit coverage for their stormwater discharges

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand what stormwater runoff is and its impacts

  • Explain how to assess a site for stormwater needs
